Your responsibilities will include shaping our IT vision and roadmap, and delivering state-of-the-art solutions that drive real business results with a focus on uptime and reliability.
In this role, you'll manage multiple projects across Vital Energy, aiming to modernize our practices and explore new technological frontiers.
You'll work closely with tech leaders to capitalize on emerging trends that deliver business value, pinpoint automation opportunities, and enhance service quality.
Additionally, you'll build and lead a high-performing team dedicated to fostering a culture of digital innovation and inquisitiveness.
As our Network Engineer, you'll be responsible for modernizing and managing the performance, design, security, and integration of our cloud infrastructure and services.
Your role will also involve researching and implementing new technologies that align with our strategic IT and organizational goals.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under supervision, responsibilities will include but not limited to the following essential functions: Responsible for corporate and SCADA networks, cellular and satellite technologies Collaborate with IT and Automation Engineers to support IOT/SCADA networks on new and existing equipment and design frameworks Provide planned and unplanned after hours support of corporate and SCADA network environments Monitor, Identify, analyze, and resolve vulnerabilities with a focus on proactive remediation Regularly review existing services and capabilities; and make recommendations for improvements Educating and Mentoring teams on the design and layout of our corporate and SCADA networking and initiatives Lead the technical design, maintenance, and operation of all Vital Energy networks Assist with screening new projects and initiatives to ensure operational readiness Document and diagram processes, procedures, standards, and playbooks Ensure the service health for critical capabilities within IT is maintained Stay ahead of technology trends, constantly evaluating what’s best for the company Possesses a continuous improvement mindset and proactively looks for opportunities to increase efficiencies, refine processes and cut costs with internal IT processes as well as throughout the business EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 7+ years of information technology experience required 5+ years of networking experience Oil and gas experience preferred Proficient with networking and internet protocols, including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and distributed networks Strong experience with the management of SCADA tower network equipment and backhaul radios Strong experience with monitoring and remediation of corporate and SCADA networks Showcased proficiency in cellular and satellite technologies specifically tailored for remote sites, highlighting expertise in addressing challenges unique to decentralized locations.
Hands-on experience in configuring and managing OT edge devices, ensuring effective operation and integration within the technological ecosystem.
Experience delivering results in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment In-depth knowledge of cloud-based platforms (primarily AWS and Azure) and expertise across broad technology disciplines such as Serverless, Storage, Data, Networking and Visualization verticals Strong experience with SCADA telemetry gathering platforms, preferable IRON-IQ Strong experience with AWS transient gateways, Route 53, VPCs, and Security Groups Strong experience with switches and wireless access points, preferably Juniper and Mist Proficient with firewalls, preferably FortiGates and Palo Altos Must have an eager mind to tackle interesting and challenging problems that do not have well-established precedents Understanding of cloud ecosystem and of current and emerging technologies and trends, with ability to rapidly assess and apply new and emerging technologies Experience with Internet of Things (IoT), SCADA or in the industrial sensor space preferred Experience with Networking as a Service (NaaS) Understanding of High Availability, Redundancy, and Disaster Recovery principles Performance analysis, troubleshooting and remediation techniques Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment Ability to make timely and independent judgment decisions while working in a fast-paced and results-driven environment Ability to develop roadmaps, diagrams and plans that enable strategies Ability to develop and promote creative alternatives to solve for business requirements Strong focus on automation, monitoring, and documentation Naturally curious and nimble learner Passionate about mentoring and development of junior team members Ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed team environment Experience in the oil and gas sector is preferred COMPENSATION: Salary is commensurate with experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed in a climate-controlled environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited.
Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of a normal office environment.
No environmental hazards are encountered in performance of normal job duties.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at moderate skill level.
Work may require occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying 40-pound objects such as servers, workstations, monitors, files, documents, boxes, etc.
Work involves sitting most of the time but may involve standing and walking for brief periods.
Occasional travel is required.
Qualifications Education Required High School or GED or better.
