Program and Promotions Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs all functions related to television programming including scheduling, monitoring of broadcast license terms, evaluating and acquiring new programs, and responding to viewer questions and comments.
Works with the production department to ensure timely promotion of national and locally produced programs and assists with the development of membership/fundraising campaigns.
PRIMARY DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides technical expertise regarding the programming function of broadcast operations and works with other departments to support and expand digital programming.
Creates and maintains grids and logs and consistently reviews to ensure program and promotion schedule accuracy and fulfillment of all underwriting commitments on 35.

Works closely with master control, engineering, and production departments to review program log exception reports and resolve issues related to equipment, operator, or editing errors.
Monitors broadcast license terms to ensure compliance and anticipate new program needs.
Identifies and recommends programs for acquisition within budget and content requirements.
Anticipates promotion lead times and works with assigned staff to review and adapt pre-produced spots and request new promotional material when needed.
Conducts analysis in required areas and prepares information for state and federal reports.
Works with General Manager and Business Manager to identify and recommend fundraising campaign program offers and review performance.
Follows all FCC and CPB programming requirements.
Experience working with public media providers and their processes including APT, NETA, and independent distributors.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit and work on a computer and monitor additional screens through the course of a workday.
Ability to see and hear with accommodations.
REPORTS TO: General Manager
SUPERVISION GIVEN TO: Part-time and student staff as assigned.
HOURS: Monday – Friday, 8:00 to 5:00.
Some evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.
POSITION: FLSA Exempt

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Experience working with programming or similar scheduling software and general understanding of broadcast operations.
Familiarity with public media content providers including APT and NETA.
Strong organization skills with the ability to manage details and deadlines.
Understanding of rapidly evolving technology and proactive approach to balancing broadcast and digital delivery.
Responsive customer service skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in a media or IT related field.
Three years of experience working in a broadcast or related technical organization.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience working with scheduling, CRM, or similar software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Five years of experience working in a broadcast organization.
Proficient working in ProTrack with advanced understanding of the relationship between programming and master control functions.
